can connect one way but not the other

If you have 2 computers with the exact same operating system. you should be able to choose what one will be your server and what one will the client correct? well that is exactly what is NOT happening here. Seems Synergy is only letting one of my machines be the client and it is the exact opposite of what I need.

I have having the same issue. 2 windows 7 64 bit machines... but for some reason Synergy will only let one of them be the client. (2 be clear i am not trying to make them both servers or clients at the same time) both are bare bones with no 3rd party network software. set up exactly the same except one is much more powerful and has more memory with a mouse and keyboard attached (my obvious primary/server choice)

both machines seem to have no problem being a server. but for some reason only my crappy laptop (the one I want as the client) will not connect, just says server timed out.

What is odd is when I reverse the config and make the laptop be the server, the PC connects fine as a client. Thats fine and dandy if I want to use my laptop as my main machine with a friggen track pad. I don't.

Can someone please explain why this happens or if there is some setting that I am missing?
