Getting Synergy to work on Port 22 on Mac OSX 10.8??

I'm trying to get Synergy working in my home office, which consists of a Mac on OSX 10.8 (home computer) and a laptop on Windows 7 (work laptop). My work laptop will be VPN'd in most of the time. Split tunneling isn't allowed. The firewall at the office has most ports locked down, other than standard ones like 22, 80, 443. I wanted to use port 22, but it's not working since Synergy can't seem to work on my Mac over that port. I get the following message: FATAL: failed to start server: cannot bind address: permission denied.

Couple of items: -I'm using no-ip so I can have a steady external DNS name to use. -I have the proper port forwarding setup on my Airport Extreme -I have "Remote Login" enabled on my Mac" -I've tried running Synergy as root, but running from terminal "sudo open /Applications/Synergy.app. App comes up, but still won't bind to port 22.

-When I'm not VPN'd in, everything works like a charm, even if I'm outside of my home network. The problem is specific to ports. If I could get Synergy to run on Port 22 on my Mac, I'd be home free. Anyone have any thoughts?

HELP!!!
