Mouse scroll wheel not working on Linux guest

I just switched from a Dell wireless keyboard/mouse to a Microsoft wireless keyboard/mouse. My host is running Windows 8 Professional and my client is running Linux Mint 12. When I installed my new mouse and keyboard, they worked immediately in Windows 8 (host) and they appeared to do the same in Linux Mint (guest). I noticed a few minutes later the scroll wheel did not work in the guest. I'm running 1.4.10 in both environments and I've confirmed that the mouse works as expected on a Windows-based laptop guest and the scroll wheel does NOT work on a Fedora linux-based guest. This leads me to believe that the issue is between the Microsoft Mouse and Synergy, not with the Linux distributions themselves. Also, the USB mouse scrolls correctly on a guest at the same time scrolling the Microsoft mouse produces no result. I've been searching this morning but can't find any sort of resolution and I'm hoping someone may have some suggestions to help me resolve this.
