Decent alternatives to Synergy?

I have grown tired of waiting for basic fixes on Synergy, such as the autostart bug that has been documented and known for 3+ months or the 4 year issue of sticky keys not working, or the inability to scroll left/right on OS X (all these are always at the top of the issue tracker).

In any case, I love supporting Synergy and the product but it has too many mission critical bugs to be a usable product 24/7, IMHO. Does anyone else have any experience with alternatives to Synergy that are decent and can be used cross-platform. A cursory Google search only finds one, but it seems to have some strange spyware/malware tracking system in it.

failing to connect with Win7 (64) PC and MacBook Pro

Server is a Windows 7 PC running Home Premium. Client is a MBP running Snow Leopard both locally on home network. this is as far as I can get to est. connection: have tried both the 32 bit and 64 bit ver. for windows 7

CTRL ALT DEL Compatibility problems

I am trying to run synergy on a couple of Windows 7 machines. I am using the most current synergy 1.4.15. The systems are on different networks, but are connected via a VPN.

I cannot get the CTRL ALT DEL logon/lock screen to send any windows based commands (CTRL ALT DEL or WINDOWS L). I have updated the client side gpedit for the local settings and restarted the machine. It should allow SAS from services, but the commands still go to the host computer. Are there anymore options?

Ubuntu 13.10 no cursor visable with SynergyC

Upgraded from Ubuntu 13.04 to 13.10 and had no mouse cursor. Reinstalled synergy, same issue. Found managed to get the cursor to show up with this:

gsettings set org.gnome.settings-daemon.plugins.cursor active false

Just thought someone else might have this same issue.

Server Refused Client With Our Name

I am extremely frustrated at this program. Why will the client not connect to the server? Despite ANYTHING that I do, I can only get this error. I attempted to read through the various help topics regarding this scenario, but for some reason, the vast majority of people who post replies on forum topics have the literary development of a 7 year old. No one can seemingly write complete sentences or explain how to correct issues in simple terms.

Can someone please help me?

Server: Linux Ubuntu 10.10 running Synergy 1.4.10

Client: Windows 7 64-bit running Synergy 1.4.10

The Client: The Computer Name is Guy-PC

Synergy is attempting to connect with the username Guy-PC

If I try to change my computer name to Guy, Synergy STILL attempts to connect with Guy-PC. Even after reboots and uninstalls.

ERROR: server refused client with name "Guy-PC" WARNING: failed to connect to server: server refused client with our name

So obviously it does not fail to connect as the message states, but rather fails to authenticate. I'm so annoyed. Does anyone have any ideas on how to fix this? I've tried changing my synergy.conf file all up, but it never matters. Client-Side Synergy will only connect with Guy-PC as the screenname.

I have installed on Windows 7 64 bit. When I launch all I get is

ERROR: failed to launch, error: process immediately stopped

It then will just carry on repeating this and continuously saying 'Synergy is starting' but never does.

It also can't seem to write a log file so I can't show you anything from that.

Adjust client mouse speed

Is there a way to adjust/tweek the client mouse speed? I have a Win XP server and Win 7 client, wired network connection. The mouse movement is smooth, it just seems a little slower on the client.

Using synergy between 2 Linux boxes both running Fedora 20 When i start synergy it reads all fine then gives the message "quad shape change" quad being the name of the server

Have had this problem before but have never been able to solve it

Synergy encryption

When I first ran synergy on my Mac it asked if I want to use encryption. I choose yes. I cannot get it to work so would like to disable the encryption bit but cannot find where to do so. Everytime I run synergy the log would tell me crypto mode is cfp.

Why is the mouse overly sensitive in games like Minecraft?

I looked around and found many people with this issue, but most of the bug reports have been closed due to being inactive years ago ... some because scroll-lock fixed their issue.

The issue is that when the mouse is controlling the camera of the game (in my case, Minecraft), the camera spins along an accelerating spiral pattern that goes from viewing "straight up" to "straight down" and simply spinning.

I've tried checking "relative motion", and I've tried scroll-lock. While they appear to behave (I don't know how to test relative motion, but scroll-lock locks me to either monitor), it does not fix the problem.

Interestingly, the game appears to actually "work" until the character moves, meaning, the camera behaves until the character takes his first step.

I'm running Win 7 C2D (E6600) server box with an Ubuntu 10.04 P4 client box. It doesn't matter which box I run the game on, nor does it matter which side the client screen is on. I'm running the 1.4.2 windows beta version and the packaged version for Ubuntu.

Building Synergy on Raspberry Pi

I'd like to use Synergy on my Raspberry (running RaspBMC), so I tried to compile it from the source code. After 

./hm.sh conf -g1
./hm.sh build

I went to ./build/release to do 

make

I've the following error :

How do I fix mouse lag on wireless client when loading website without Ethernet?

Yeah, the title pretty much says it all.

Host is Windows 7. Client is Mountain Lion.

When (loading) a page on mac, any browser, or app store, the mouse lags painfully.

This is a problem when watching, or listing to YouTube because the video takes a while to load rendering the computer useless in the meantime.

Problem is solved when mac is plugged into modem via Ethernet, but I don't want to have to do this.

Any other options?

How to use Synergy portable ?

According to the release note http://synergy-foss.org/blog/synergy-1-4-11-released/ the portable version of Synergy would be a new feature of that version. Unfortunately, I can't find a package for portable installation, nor any information how to do a portable installation of the regular download ?

Synergy on Windows 8 Tablet

Hi, I have a Windows 7 Desktop PC and a Windows 8 tablet. I'm trying to connect them together but doesn't seem to be working. The client has connected to the server, and I've set up as instructed to let it work, but when I move my mouse to the side of the screen, it does not go to the tablet. Has anyone got it working yet?

ive had synergy running for years. I change the router and it doesnt work anymore. the Pc's dont connect. I put the old router back and it works. I didnt change anything else..

I need this new router. Please help.

How do i get this to work ? the router doesnt block port 28000 and router does blocking on internet outbound anyway.

i have version 1.4.11

Mouse stops responding and becomes invisible on client

Windows 7 64 as server, Windows 7 x86 as client. Scroll lock not on. Version 1.4.15 I noticed that the mouse randomly stops being displayed. I turned off the desktop "Fences" app I have on the client and this helps with the issues but they still occur. I noticed that when I enable "Show location of pointer when I press the CTRL key" option in control panel - mouse, I can locate the mouse pointer on both the server and on the bottom right corner of the client. The mouse cursor is invisible though. The only way to recover is to restart the Synergy service on the client, or to shut it down.

I use a few apps that might cause these issues, Microsoft CRM / Bombgar Rep Console / Outlook, etc.. These apps sometimes dominate the screen with sub-windows... but I would think that the mouse would be visible. I see some options to make dead corners in the config, has anyone tried these options and if so what do they do?

Cannot change screen name for Ubuntu client

Hi.

I'm having difficulty configuring Synergy as a client on my Ubuntu laptop. I have changed the hostname for my laptop so it would not have any unfamiliar characters in it, yet Synergy fails to reflect this change. In fact, there are no options whatsoever in this program, and the box for the screen name is greyed out, unchangeable. Is there any reason why I cannot change the screen name? I am only trying to link my laptop to my Windows PC.

Can't drag and drop between server and client

I just installed this and the server is running windows 7 x64 pro and the client is an older 32 bit XP machine. I can use the mouse and keyboard on both just fine but it will not let me drag and drop any files from one to the other. Am i doing something wrong? Does the client and server need to be on the same versions of Synergy? Because when installing it on the XP client the site says to use the older 1.4.12 version for XP but the server is running the newer 1.4.15
